Based in Nottingham, England and established in 1999 Curtains Direct has grown to become one of the countries leading manufacturers and suppliers of Flame Retardant Made-to-Measure curtains.
Starting out as a shop making and supplying domestic curtains locally we soon realised the importance of Fire Retardant Curtains for our Commercial clients. We have now been making and supplying Custom Made Flame Retardant Curtains for over 25 years all over the UK.
In the UK, curtains used in public spaces like hotels, schools, and care homes must meet specific fire retardancy standards, typically complying with BS 5867 Part 2 Type B or C. These standards ensure curtains resist fire and prevent its spread. While fire retardant treatment isn’t mandatory for domestic curtains, many homeowners choose it for added safety, particularly in bedrooms with potentially glaring sunlight that could reflect onto mirrors and ignite curtains.
Our clients include schools, nursing homes, villages halls, landlords, student accommodations, hotels, offices, golf courses etc.
All of our fabrics are inherently flame retardant, meaning their fire resistance is built into the fibres themselves—not applied as a temporary coating. This means the protection lasts for the lifetime of the curtain, even with regular washing or dry cleaning unlike flame retardant sprays which washes out, stiffens the fabric and leaves behind a residue which can also be harmful to health.
We have an extremely large range of designs from top brands such as Panaz, Edmund Bell, iLiv and many more. Our curtains come in modern, traditional and semi-plains with a varied choice of designs and colour-ways to suit any room.
Choose from either Pencil Pleat or Eyelet headed Curtains with other heading styles available on request. Curtains can also be unlined, lined or black-out lined.
All of our Curtains are Inherently Flame Retardant Certified to British Standard BS 5867 Part 2 Types B and fully washable.
There is no difference in price from one design to another, only the size of curtain required will change the price.
